And I know if we choose to be aware, conscious and brave enough to withstand and adapt to whatever challenges life offers, that we will become leaders in our homes, families, careers and communities, countries, universe.” “For a leader, consciously choosing how to think and choosing what to think about is crucial. Leaders don’t just allow the babble of pop culture and programming of corporate media to fill their minds.” Hutchins urged the future leaders to “Develop an awareness and compassion about the parts of ourselves that we have been trained to reject and then we can learn compassion for those people and issues we have judged. Knowing that whenever you feel something strongly about others, positive or negative, it’s true about you becomes a wonderful gift – the opportunity to learn about, accept and honor these hidden selves you might have disowned. It teaches you to give others the benefit of the doubt and to love others because you see they are just like you - they do the best they can.
