ASTRI and Innofidei to co-present LTE end-to-end solution at Mobile Asia Expo

June 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) and Innofidei, both world leaders in LTE technologies, will join hands to demonstrate LTE TDD/FDD dual mode end-to-end solution during the Mobile Asia Expo to be held at Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 26 to 28 June 2013.

The end-to-end demonstration consists of user equipment dongles and small cells of both TDD and FDD modes of LTE, as well as a core network bridging the two sub-systems. At the Expo, bi-directional live video streaming, conferencing, and massive FTP data traffic will be demonstrated with expected air link throughput up to 100Mbps in LTE-FDD mode and over 60Mbps in TD-LTE mode.

Dr Tom Zhang, Innofidei’s Founder and CEO, said, “This will be the industry’s first live demonstration achieving such high performance in an LTE TDD/FDD dual mode end-to-end system. With such a significant breakthrough we will be able to provide a complete, flexible and cost effective LTE end-to-end solution including terminals, small cells and core network (EPC) for both mainstream and niche markets.”    

This is another major milestone in the development of LTE technology by the two companies since their collaboration commenced in 2008. Other important achievements leading to the recent success include the launch of the world’s first TD-LTE data card in 2010, TD-LTE field trials in seven cities in China in 2011, and the successful completion of the world’s first FDD/TDD LTE bi-directional packet-switched (PS) handover test in 2012. Future development of the technology resulted from this partnership will continue to enhance and speed up the process of full deployment of 4G LTE in China.
