Local Family-run Operation Makes Back-to-school Their Business

MIAMI - June 26, 2013 - PRLog -- As teachers all over South Florida are packing up their school supplies and locking up their classrooms for the summer, one local company is hitting the ground running. O.riginals: Design & Stationery, a boutique gift and stationery studio specializing in custom/personalized items for school-aged children, plans to make this back-to-school season o.riginal with the launch of their new Web site. Their site, which can be found at: www.originalsds.com, goes live Monday, June 17. It will feature hundreds of new personalized products such as backpacks, pencil cases, folders, notepads and more, with an illustration designed to resemble the recipient. By choosing hair color, style, skin tone and school uniform or attire, the user can create an o.riginal character to give their school gear an identity.

What began as a custom illustration being showcased on a handful of products at a charity event back in October of 2009, has now been transformed into a brand featuring hundreds of products showcased by Miami’s most elite grade-schoolers.

“I wanted to create something that would promote school spirit, yet be accessible to all school-aged children and parents, alike,” said Creative Director Olga Martinez.

Partnered with her mother/O.riginals CEO, Maria Martinez, this duo means business. Shortly after copyrighting and trademarking the illustrations, plans went into play for the creation of the Web site.

“It was important the Web site be user friendly for the parents and fun for the children,” added Olga. “We’ve created a simple and easy-to-follow design and checkout process for an entertaining and o.riginal shopping experience.”

Olga, a former teacher and high school administrator, has a strong pulse on the market and the needs of today’s parents and students. O.riginals products are a favorite among South Miami, Pinecrest, and Coral Gables area schools, but the mother/daughter duo hope to expand their reach to all South Florida schools by the end of the year - through the launch of the new site. O.riginals: Design & Stationery currently has over 100 school uniform illustrations in their Lookbook, and nearly 200 products – all of which will be available for purchase on the new site. The site will also allow shoppers to request new custom illustrations.
