Attorney Becker To Appear on Radio for DOMA Discussion

On Monday, July 1, 2013, Attorney William J. Becker, Jr. is scheduled to appear on Dr. James Dobson's radio program, "Family Talk," to discuss the U.S. Supreme Court decision on same sex marriage.

LOS ANGELES - June 28, 2013 - PRLog -- After weeks of deliberation, the Supreme Court ruled that Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was unconstitutional. This section stated that the government cannot recognize same-sex marriages, because marriage means "a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife." Becker has already issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court's decision to declare the Defense of Marriage Act to be unconstitutional:

"The costs inflicted on society by the Supreme Court's systematic departures from the actual words and meaning of the U.S. Constitution include the destruction of moral taboos," Becker stated.

"As Robert Bork once summed it up, almost every value, every virtue, every symbol and every institution that was once taken as sacred has been overthrown or put into question. Marriage and the family are mocked by the Court's protection of pornography and normalizing of homosexuality, bisexuality, transsexualism and other sexually deviant behavior even as the Christian religion is being marginalized in the public square.

"The Court's same-sex marriage decisions exalt immorality over morality in response to a cultural current of dissoluteness. The Court's role should be to resist such trends, but the fallacy that one's sexual identity demands the destruction of the institution of marriage to accommodate the libertine sensibilities of a minority of shrill activists has stunningly found acceptance with enough members of the Court to make these radical societal changes possible.

"These decisions are a declaration of war against the moral and Christian foundations of the Nation.  They will only divide Americans, leading, ultimately, to a day of reckoning. Christians and conservatives will only be emboldened by these decisions."
During the radio program, Becker will be joined in the discussion by Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council.
