Follow on Google News | Dr. Murray J. Williams Appointed Atlanta Technical College VP, Academic AffairsDr. Murray J. Williams has been appointed vice president for academic affairs at Atlanta Technical College in Atlanta, Georgia.
As the leader of the academic affairs division, Dr. Williams will manage more than 100 associate degree, diploma, and technical certificate programs. She will oversee library and media services, the student support center, distance learning programs, institutional effectiveness initiatives, and student assessment measures. Dr. Williams is also charged with supervising the academic deans, full-time faculty, adjunct professors and divisional staff. “Dr. Williams has a strong track record of success in higher education,” said Atlanta Technical College President Alvetta Peterman Thomas. Over the past three years, she has demonstrated a spirit of innovation and strategic leadership that has contributed to the growth and success of the college. I look forward to working with Dr. Williams and her team as we expand our focus in high-growth areas such as bioscience technology, supply chain management, industrial systems engineering, allied health, skilled trades and business technology.” Dr. Williams has been serving as the acting vice president of planning and development at Atlanta Technical College since February of this year. Prior to her current role, she served as the director of institutional effectiveness, curriculum and planning. Dr. Williams has held numerous leadership positions in academia, serving as director of institutional effectiveness and assessment at Luther Rice University; associate research administrator and grants manager at Emory University; and assistant professor of education and SME at Liberty University. She holds a doctor of education, education specialist, and a master of business administration from Liberty University. In addition she earned a master of Christian education, a master of arts in biblical counseling and a master of divinity from Luther Rice University.
