Peter Sommer Travels celebrates the 20th anniversary of an epic journey with a 20% discount

July 2, 2013 - PRLog -- Twenty years ago, archaeologist Peter Sommer was preparing for his 1994 journey of a lifetime: walking 2,000 miles across Turkey in the footsteps of Alexander the Great. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of that epic walk, Peter Sommer Travels has announced a 20% saving on one of the firm’s spectacular two-week Mediterranean sailing expeditions.

Cruising the Carian Coast (31 August – 14 September 2013) explores some of the most magnificent scenery along the coasts and islands of Greece and Turkey. Travelling aboard a traditional wooden gulet, the expedition combines the glorious Greek islands of Rhodes, Symi and Halki with some of the greatest archaeological gems of the Carian coast.

Hosted by British archaeologist Professor Julian Bennett, the gulet cruise begins in the picturesque Turkish port of Göcek and sails west to Bodrum, the site of the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

Guests will visit Kaunos with its exquisite rock-cut temple tombs, and the beautifully-preserved marbled city Knidos, arranged around a double harbour, with time to explore quiet coves, take scenic walks, swim in crystal waters and enjoy delicious Turkish and Greek food.
