This book is based on events that geologist’s have proved happened in the earth’s history and are certain to happen again. A natural disaster is going to happen which will devastate the entire planet and all its inhabitants. What would you do if that possibility happened? There is a way to give you a chance of survival which entails giving up your whole way of life now. Would you take it if it meant saving your family from this catastrophe? This is the story of one man’s efforts to avoid the dreadful consequences about to happen. He finds out through a friend that the Yellowstone Caldera in America is showings signs of exploding with terrifying force which will plunge the whole world into a Nuclear Winter. If this happens, no crops can be grown for approximately ten years resulting in widespread starvation. He believes that this will happen and takes his whole family to Australia to live as far away from civilisation as possible. In book one sub-titled ‘Getting There’ he establishes them in a secure indoor farm. In Book Two they have to deal with a group who are determined to take it from them, by force if necessary. Francis Wait says: "The reason I wrote this book is that I have always been interested in the geography of our planet and the movement of the continents on the surface. The Yellowstone Caldera is especially interesting as it has exploded with terrifying force at least twice. Although it is acknowledged that the time between the disasters is at least six hundred thousand years, it is a fact that it will happen again. If it does humankind faces the prospect of starvation over the whole of the planet, due to the dust blocking out the sun and lowering the temperature of the planet to a point where nothing can grow. I have used this as a basis for my novel because I wanted to explore the possibility that in the right circumstances it maybe be possible for the Human Race to survive, albeit with very few survivors. A group of people establish an indoor farm in the outback of Australia in order to live. But of course the natural instinct of man is to do anything to stay alive; so a second group find them and try to take it over. Leading to conflict which is inevitable, this is where the second book will take us. I think it will also be possible for the leaders of our society to try and survive also, maybe they could use the Nuclear submarines to do just that." This is a novel based not on a premise, but on a promise that there will be an explosion. It gives a guide on what can be done to survive. End
