Long Island Wedding Singer Croons Rocks and Rolls On

LINDENHURST, N.Y. - July 3, 2013 - PRLog -- At a time in life when many people are playing golf or retiring to the beaches of Florida, John Cannella is reaching the pinnacle of a singing career that has spanned over five decades. Cannella known professionally as "Johnny The Oldies Singer" recently concluded a four state June tour singing at stops in Pennsylvania,New Jersey, Connecticut and  upstate New York.

Instead of slowing down Cannella's career has accelerated.He's appeared at such Long Island landmarks as The Watermill Inn, The Irish Coffee Pub,The Millerridege Inn, The Villa Monoco, The 841 Club and Staten Islands Marina Grand where he sang for the family of the late great Johnny Maestro. Most recently he performed at a gala Grucci Fireworks extravaganza for it's retiring President Donna Grucci Butler and Congrssman Felix Grucci at the the Bellport Country Club.

In his decades as a  Long Island Wedding Singer Johnny The Oldies Singer has performed at beautiful venues like the Jericho Terrace, Swan club, Chateau Briand, Fox Hollow and the Carltun to name only a few.

Known for his act entitled "Songs of The Greats", Johnny predominantly performs in the Long Island and metro New York area at private parties and events including weddings, anniversary, birthday and holiday parties and all seniors events. "I absolutely love what I do" says Cannella with a smile. "Where else can you make a living from making people happy? As Tony (Bennett) once said ,and I agree, if you do what you love for a living you'll never work a day in your life"

When asked to choose a favorite type event, Johnny responds "my favorite time of the year is the holiday season. I do a lot of Christmas parties both private and corporate singing Christmas songs of the Greats like Sinatra, Bennett, Mathis, Darin, Elvis, Engelbert, Crosby and Nat King Cole.It's just a warm and wonderful feeling to be part of the season in many peoples lives. But, my favorite type event is the surprise party. I do a lot of surprise birthday and anniversary parties. The kids usually hire me to do a party for mom and /or dad.  I always ask the client throwing the surprise party for mom and dad whether mom or dad has a heart condition. After all we want to surprise them without killing them.Kidding aside though, it's so wonderful to see the response of the surprised guest of honor. There are often tears of joy to see all the family and friends gathered in their honor.. It's very rewarding to be a small part of that moment."

When asked when he plans to retire, Johnny responds; "Hopefully never God willing. Not everyone can be a Tony Bennett in terms of health, success and longevity but why not aim high? It doesn't hurt to try".
