The Belle Isle Conservancy Announces 8 Inside|Out Installations

The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) installs 8 masterpieces throughout Belle Isle Park as part of its popular Inside|Out project

DETROIT - July 8, 2013 - PRLog -- The Belle Isle Conservancy (BIC) is pleased to announce that the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) has installed eight reproductions of its most famous masterpieces at Belle Isle Park. The art installations are part of the DIA’s Inside|Out project sponsored by John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, bringing nearly 80 reproductions of DIA masterpieces to outdoor spaces throughout metro Detroit. The masterpieces are on view for Belle Isle Park visitors July through September.

“Belle Isle has new treasures with these great works of art on view for everyone,” says BIC President Michele Hodges. “We are so happy to have the support of the City of Detroit Recreation Department with the DIA to have this installation happen. Inside|Out is yet another great reason to visit Belle Isle Park.”

         Bude Sands at Sunset – John Randall Brett

·      North Fishing Pier, Riverbank Dr

         Woman in Armchair – Pierre Auguste Renoir

·      Bath Lunch Pavilion, Riverside Dr

         Berenice Reproaching Ptolemy – Jean-Joseph Taillasson

·      Playscape, Central Ave

         Mother and Child – Unknown (Yoruba, African)

·      Aquarium/Conservatory, Conservatory Way

         Gladioli, Claude Monet

·      Dossin Great Lakes Museum, The Strand

         Colonel John Montresor – John Singleton Copley

·      Softball Fields, Vista Dr

         Asafo Flag – Unknown (Fante, African)

·      Nature Zoo, East Lakeside Dr

         Animals in Landscape – Franz Marc

The DIA will be working with several area organizations to plan educational opportunities and other fun activities throughout the next couple of months.
