Cabaret Singer Mary Carrick to Perform at Bart Howard Room In Burlington Iowa

July 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Singer Mary Carrick will return to her native southeast Iowa with a two night engagement at the Bart Howard Room in Burlington, IA with her show, "Corner of the Sky".  Performances featuring Carrick and her pianist Todd Brooks will be held Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25.00 and are available at the Des Moines County Heritage Center, the Iowa Store, and Weird Harold’s in Burlington as well as at Brown’s Shoe Fit in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. The Bart Howard Room is located in the lower level of the Heritage Center, at 501 North Fourth Street in Burlington.

Carrick (http://www.marycarricksings.com) and Brooks, have been captivating audiences across the Midwest with their charming and award-winning cabaret shows that combine exquisite vocals, unique interpretations, delightful patter, and theatrical flair.  They perform frequently across Iowa, Nebraska, as well as in their home city of Omaha.  The pair made their Chicago cabaret debut in 2012.  

"Corner of the Sky" will include songs from the American Songbook, musical theater, and other selections by classic and contemporary songwriters, including Stephen Schwartz, Amanda McBroom, Hank Williams, Stephen Sondheim, Michel Legrand, William Finn, Bob Dylan, Christine Lavin, and others.

The recipient of the 2013 Omaha Entertainment and Arts Award as Best Supporting Actress in a Musical, Carrick recently participated in the 2013 Midwest Cabaret Conference Showcase in Chicago.  She is currently working on her debut recording with an anticipated release in Spring 2014.  

Carrick is active with many performing arts organizations in the Omaha area, including Opera Omaha and the Rose Theater, one of the largest professional children’s theaters in the country.  Brooks is active as an actor, director, and music director.
