Dr. Sadiqullah Khan Wazir, belongs to Wana, South Waziristan, Pakistan. A prolific writer of contemporary poetry, the author draws inspiration from his rich traditional heritage. Addressing the common human condition, his verse strives for aesthetic beauty and stylistic detail. “Poetry is the expression of society writ large”
, the author says. A poet is a representative of his surrounding, a cultural heritage, a significant unit in history, a way forward, and voice of the people. As politics, economics, and all other disciplines of life are coming into a whole adding greater responsibilities on the poets, in a world divided by states, race, ethnicity, language and faith, the poets’
primary responsibility is to preach love and peace. The poets’
vocabulary and diction should contain all elements of life, put together with aesthetic beauty. ‘A Forgotten Song’ is his newest work, which is modern in thought and content. A vast panorama of subjects have been touched, ranging from war to love, it is an existential despair, promoting spirit of independence, imagination and the role of art and culture as the biggest human achievement of the civilization.

The Second StanzaOn the wisdom’
s bare horse
Such gallop as of imagination
Discern the rapture from mind’s play
So is lover’
s creed of knowing
Nay not the names of no meaning
What we understand
Is that from glance of the beloved
The empty cup shall be filled
In the drop of wine you make
Descend the universe in goblet
