The past three years have presented many large animal welfare organizations with a new challenge, surviving the drought and increased hay costs. Organizations such as The Hambrick Fund and El Pomar recognize the strain this situation placed on many Colorado animal welfare organizations, and they have stepped up with emergency hay funds for struggling agencies. Zuma's Rescue Ranch with the help of Hambrick Fund will continue to take horses that were once destine for slaughter into our rehabilitation program preparing those horses for new adoptive homes. Since 2008 Zuma's Rescue Ranch has placed more than 200 horses into safe homes. One way to create a new role for these abandoned and often abused and neglected horses; Zuma's Equine Assisted Learning program, known as ZEAL. Children coming from similare abuse and neglect are paired with the recovered horses. The horses’ Zuma's is a 60% volunteer organnization, if you have an interested in helping these horses and or children, please visit our website www.zumasrescueranch.com to register as a volunteer for the organization.
