CINCINNATI - July 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Nicholas Yust and Eric Waddington, the two business associates behind the success of the ModernAbstractDecor.com (http://www.modernabstractdecor.com/) and NicholasYust.com (http://www.nicholasyust.com/) art sites, are offering a unique opportunity for students of the arts through a $1,000 scholarship. Providing application guidelines that help a student plan for a realistic career in the arts, the completion of a three-step process begins with drawing up a unique business vision.

As both Yust and Waddington are products of higher education, it was their passion for the arts that brought them together to pursue joint business ventures. Yust is a graduate of WrightStateUniversity with a Master’s in Metallurgical Engineering and a Bachelor’s in Materials Engineering and Waddington is a graduate of the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s in International Business and a Minor in Business. Realizing that the dream of pursuing a career in any discipline of the arts isn’t always an easy road, both were compelled to create a scholarship opportunity that would encourage students of the arts to be inspired to transition their talents into a career.

Art spans many disciplines and the inaugural “Students of the Arts Scholarship (http://www.modernabstractdecor.com/art-student-scholarship)” is open to students in studies that include: painting, graphic design, music, creative writing, cartoons and animations, interior decorating, sculpting, fashion design, architect and film.  Giving back to future artists is an important endeavor for Yust , “Eric and I came up with this scholarship idea for artistic students to do the same - to recognize that there are legitimate opportunities for careers in fine arts and to encourage them to get out there and make it happen."

Scholarship applicants can be any student of the arts graduating from High School or any student enrolled in a college or relevant trade school. The first task for the applicant is to compose a 500-1,000 word essay that illustrates a unique plan on how they would turn their artistic passion into a profitable business. Secondly, the essay must be posted on a website or blog with a “Stamp of Approval” (HTML code is provided on scholarship site). Then a notification to Yust and Waddington via an online form completes the application process. Submissions must be received by August 31, 2013. A panel of judges will review all submissions and a winner will be announced before September 30, 2013. For the future, Yust and Waddington plan to offer the “Students of the Arts Scholarship” annually.  Reflecting on his time as a student, Waddington said, "I loved my time in college - studying new topics, interacting with fellow students, expressing myself through creative writing and team projects. That is what has brought me to where I am today - I was passionate about a career in the arts and thrived in an entrepreneurial role.”
