She has been involved in more than 300 construction projects, totaling over 2,000,000 square feet (185,000 square meters) of construction. Ms. Franklin’s design and construction experience includes facilities such as office buildings, sports complexes, indoor swimming pools, maintenance facilities, vehicle maintenance facilities, landfills, churches, high schools, institutional prison facilities, cold storage facilities, residential condominiums, parking structures, nursing homes, hospitals, and clinics. Ms. Franklin specializes in the higher education field and has managed the design for the construction of the Virginia State University Gateway Phase 2 dormitory project. The approximately 100,000 square foot facility consists of 576 beds and common spaces such as laundry, lounges, fitness and game rooms. As a result of the success of this project, Virginia State University representatives awarded a second dormitory project, Quad 2 residence hall which is 485 beds. The certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) program is an international certification program for engineers and designers of plumbing systems. The certification program provides the profession, the plumbing industry, and the general public with a single, comprehensive qualification of professional competence for engineers and designers of plumbing systems. Ms. Franklin met the eligibility requirements needed to take the CPD examination by having more than four years of experience in a position of responsibility for the design of plumbing systems and possessing of a baccalaureate degree in a field related to engineering. Ms. Franklin received a Master of Science Degree in Management Science from Troy State University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy.
