Philadelphia Hotel Blog Makes Philly's Hot List

PHILADELPHIA - July 31, 2013 - PRLog -- The Gateway to Philadelphia is not meant as another hotel blog.  It is not self promoting, although it is sourced from the Embassy Suites Philadelphia - Airport. The blog's point of view or theme is dedicated to the events, venues, attractions in and around a litle known neighborhood of Philadelphia - Eastwick.

No this is not related to any "Witches" that may be associated with another Eastwick somewhere else.  Philly's Eastwick is in the Southwest area of the city. Right next door to the City of Brotherly Love's most famous neighborhood - South Philadelphia.  That neighborhood was made famous by the "Rocky films", Philly Cheesesteaks and the Major League sports complex in the area.   Next door to that monolith of a neighborhood lies the lesser known but vibrant community of Eastwick.

Eastwick is a tale of two extremes.  At first glance the major venue, attraction or event is identified as Philadelphia International Airport which makes up part of the area.  All the activity of a major U.S. Northeast International Airport would seem to take over this neighborhood.  That does not happen in Eastwick, due to what is at the other end of the neighborhood spectrum less than a mile away.  The peace and serenity of John Heinz Natural Wildlife Refuge sits as a stark contrast to what is normally thought of as a "airport area".  Step into the refuge and you see what this area was like before there was an airport, before there was an Eastwick and before there was a Philadelphia.  Today's Eastwick has a wealth of surprises and revelations like John Heinz Natural Wildlife Refuge.  There is the "Secret Garden of Philadelphia" - Bartram's Garden, a Museum that received "Museum of the Year" honors - Simeone Automotive Museum, Nature trails and a Greenway that connects the area to Center City Philadelphia.

Since most visitors enter Eastwick by means of the Philadelphia Internatioinal Airport, the entire neighborhood has earned the nickname - "The Gateway to Philadelphia".  But visitors would do well to take a moment after their arrival to look beyond the gates, crowds and rush of the Airport to see what more this unique Philadelphia neighborhood has to offer.
