By: Consortium-Media New shuttle bus service offered in Oak Park with 15-minute headways during school peak traffic hours (OAK PARK, Calif.) – Ventura County Public Works Agency, in partnership with the City of Agoura Hills and First Transit, is announcing the launch of Kanan Shuttle Service in Oak Park on Aug. 5. Kanan Shuttle Service riders may enjoy the service free of charge until Nov. 2013. The shuttle service will operate Mondays – Fridays between 6:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. every 15 minutes during peak hours around school drop-off and pick-up times, and every 30 minutes the rest of the day. The new Kanan shuttle system, which features a logo of a leaping mountain lion, will seat 24 people per bus, is handicapped- “The Kanan Shuttle is economic and environmentally friendly, reducing traffic, air pollution and travel costs,” said Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks, who encourages people to “give it a test drive.” This is the first public bus service in Ventura County that offers 15-minute headways, making it a convenient and reliable alternative to driving. The new service will enhance current transportation service Dial-A-Ride (DAR), which has been operated by the City of Agoura Hills since 1985.
