Power Design, Inc. Goes Green and Gives Back

Power Design, Inc., a St. Petersburg based electrical contractor and engineer, is focused on reducing its carbon footprint.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Aug. 2, 2013 - PRLog -- As one of the nation’s leading electrical contractors and engineers, Power Design maintains an energy saving approach on projects throughout the country to improve building sustainability. 70% of the projects Power Design engineers qualify as green buildings or energy efficient.  In addition to using energy saving designs, Power Design mandates that all jobsites recycle their scrap wire and all proceeds are donated to charities local to the jobsites. Office employees at the St. Petersburg, Fla. headquarters are now making similar strides.

“We have gone above and beyond to make our 70,000 square foot facility environmentally friendly, said Dayle Bradley, property manager.  “To reduce energy consumption we switched from HID to LED and fluorescent lighting and installed occupancy sensors to restrooms, the training facility, and all back of house areas.  We also put the HVAC system and lights on timers so they work at a lower intensity outside of business hours.  In addition to saving energy, Power Design is now using biodegradable cleaning supplies, using re-usable fed-ex envelopes and provided an electric car charging station in the parking lot to encourage the use of hybrid vehicles.”

These efforts reflect Power Design’s values and commitment to improving the communities we work in, near and far.
