Long Island Wedding Singer Rescues Distressed Bride

WHITESTONE, N.Y. - Aug. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- New York wedding singer John Cannella known professionally as "Johnny The Oldies Singer" normally sings and provides DJ/MC services for Long Island Brides. However, at an August 4, 2013 Whitestone NY wedding, Johnny was pressed into photography service when the real photographer had to leave the wedding ceremony because of a family emergency. About ten minutes into the wedding service, which was being held at Duponti, a beautiful seaside Beachhurst location on a gorgeous sunny day, the photographer received a call notifying him that his child had been taken to a local hospital. He immediately left the service leaving the distressed bride to live out every brides nightmare i.e. an unforseen wedding diasaster. To the rescue an unlikely hero.. The singer?  Coincidently,Cannella who was hired to perform and DJ at both the ceremony and reception, had brought along an assistant to film his act at the request of an agent. " I had just purchased this expensive high powered DSLR/HD camera to shoot performance videos and stills at the request of my agent" said Johnny. Mounted atop the camera was a stereo condensor microphone which according to Cannella was twice as powerful and expensive as his best hand held microphones. And so when the unexpected occured both Johnny and his assistant sprang into action alternating taking stills and video of the bride the ceremony, the cocktail hour and the reception. "It seemed like a natural fit to press this baby (camera)  into service to perform a good deed" mused Cannella."But this was absolutely the hardest I've worked in a long time. We arrived two and a half hours before the event to set up both the outdoor and indoor audio systems. We had to duplicate our mixer boards,mics,stands and speakers to facilitate a smooth trasition from the outdoor seashore ceremony and cocktails to the indoor reception. We also had to boom mic the reverend and lavalier mic the groom so that the vows could be heard. However alls well that ends well and it did work out very very well"  This entertainer's overall performance may write a new page in the history of diverse multi tasking  given the fact when he wasn't singing, MCing, DJing and taking photos, Johnny was dancing up a storm and leading both the conga line and the ever popular cha cha slide..  " I absolutely love what I do and will do just about anything to make my parties a success" says Johnny who also performs at Anniversary, Birthday and Holiday parties throughout the NY metro area.  The very grateful bride has has promised to book Johnny to perform at an upcoming family party as a token of her appreciation for his "above the call of duty perfomance " just as soon as she returns from a lavishly well deserved honeymoon.. " I hope I won't have to work quite so hard at her next party but I'm bringing my trust camera along with the wedding pictures just in case. No extra charge." laughs Cannella.
