International Law Fraternity Inducts First Long Islander Chancellor, Jeffrey S Schwartz

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. - Aug. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Woodbury, NY, Jeffrey S. Schwartz, Founder and President of the Woodbury law firm, Law Offices of Jeffrey S. Schwartz PC, a full service law firm with offices in Woodbury and San Diego was installed as Chancellor by the International Law Fraternity, Delta Theta Phi on August 3rd in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He is the first New Yorker and the 2nd Jewish person to hold this position in their 100 year history.  Simultaneously, the Law Fraternity is celebrating their centennial, a truly historic event for both New York and the Law Fraternity.  Among some of their prestigious members of the Law Fraternity is Mario Cuomo, 54^th Governor of NYS, Sandra Day O'Connor, 1^st woman appointed, Associate Justice, U.S. Supreme Court, Lyndon B. Johnson, 36^th President of the United States,  Calvin Coolidge, 30^th President of the United States and J. Edgar Hoover, 1^st Director of the FBI.  The Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity is one of the largest legal fraternities in the world with Senates chartered at over 200 law schools and alumni in the hundreds of thousands. Schwartz has been a member of the Law Fraternity since 1981 and has held several leadership positions which bring us to present time as incoming Chancellor. 

One of his goals as Chancellor will be to charter new Senates, including a Senate at Hofstra Law School, where he initiated their incoming student Dean at the United States Supreme Court earlier this year. Schwartz stated “It is an honor to serve this great Fraternity, as I am given the opportunity to assist not only law students, but attorneys throughout the country.”

“Lead by example” states Schwartz “I strongly believe in giving back to the community with my professional time and money.”  Some of his other volunteer affiliations: General Counsel, Long Island Fight For Charity, Board member for the Long Island chapter of the Jewish National Fund (JNF) and Secretary of Board of the Mid Island Y Jewish Community Center.

Jeffrey Schwartz and his wife of almost 30 years reside in Plainview, NY. Their children attend at Buffalo State College.
