DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Aug. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- The Daytona Beach area touts itself as the Festival Capital of Florida – and the dozens of events and festivals, coupled with warm temperatures, make fall the perfect time to Seize the Daytona.

Visitors to the area can relish in the tropical climate, donning their summer attire and hitting the surf while enjoying art shows, music and movie festivals, plus well-known rallies for motorcycle and car enthusiasts.  New this year is Dine Around Daytona Beach, a culinary program offering visitors fixed price, three-course dinners at restaurants that present the many flavors of Daytona Beach.

This month-long culinary program allows visitors to immerse themselves in the unique flavors and cuisine of Daytona Beach by enjoying $20 or $30 three-course dinners at select restaurants throughout October.  Foodies can pair recommended activities during the day with a delectable dinner at night, savoring all that the area has to offer.

The area also welcomes back regular traditions, including the 51st Annual Halifax Art Festival, the 21st Annual Biketoberfest® and the 40th Annual Daytona Turkey Run, a huge classic car show and swap meet.

FALL FESTIVALS

Get ready to celebrate our rich Latino heritage at the Viva Volusia (http://vivavolusia.com/) festival during Labor Day weekend (August 30 through September 1).  The festival will feature Latino food, culture and music, and coincides with the statewide Viva Florida event, which commemorates Florida’s discovery 500 years ago when Ponce de Leon landed on the East Coast near his namesake Ponce Inlet in the Daytona Beach area.  With dozens of food vendors, performers and artists, this free international festival is sure to become a Daytona Beach tradition celebrated year after year.

The 4th Annual Daytona Blues Festival (http://daytonabluesfestival.com/) held October 11-13 promises to keep area visitors entertained.  The festival features up-and-coming and nationally known artists, drawing blues lovers from around the country.  All proceeds of the event go to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Halifax Health.  The organization was able to write a $16,000 check to the Halifax NICU from the 2012 proceeds and this year’s check should be even bigger.

Later in October, the Daytona Beach area turns into a playground for motorcycles during the 21st Annual Biketoberfest (http://biketoberfest.org/)®.  The long weekend (17th - 20th) will host thousands of riders as they roll into Daytona Beach for motorcycle shows, rallies, live music, racing at the Daytona International Speedway, scenic rides and top manufacturers showcasing the latest models.  This year’s event offers a free collectors pin for riders looking to commemorate their time in Daytona.  The Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is also hosting a motorcycle companion pet photo contest, known as Tails and Tailpipes, through the Official Bikertoberfest® Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/Biketoberfest) August 1 through September 15 for a chance to stay in Daytona Beach.

As November rolls in, the Daytona Beach area celebrates the 51st Annual Halifax Art Festival (http://www.halifaxartfestival.com/) (November 2-3).  The event is the second oldest continual art festival in the state offering live entertainment, a student art competition, children’s activities, and fine dining in a variety of local restaurants and cafes.  Approximately 30,000 visitors come to the area to view the creations of more than 200 fine artists from all over the United States.

Following the Halifax Art Festival, visitors can enjoy the 11th Annual Daytona Beach Film Festival (http://www.dbff.org/) November 7-11.  The festival features independent, local and foreign films with filmmakers and special guests, celebrity appearances and live music for viewers.  There will also be a student filmmaker showcase to peek into the future minds of film.

In the endless search for fine food, wine and beer, foodies can stop in for the one-day affair of the Food, Wine & Brew Festival (http://www.news-journalevents.com/foodwinebrew/) November 9.  The event is hosted by the Daytona Beach News-Journal and includes cuisine, wine and microbrews from local eateries, plus live entertainment.

Wrapping up November, the area will host the 40th Annual Daytona Turkey Run (http://www.turkeyrun.com/Turkey_Run_Home.html) November 28 through December 1.  Visitors can view classic cars and street rods during one of the most diverse displays of special automobiles on the infield of the Daytona International Speedway.  The event will present a collection of cars for sale, a variety of new and used parts, homemade crafts, antiques and food.

Fall in Daytona Beach will keep visitors busy with events and festivals every month.  The weather is still perfect for a dip in the ocean, but the surrounding area calls for visitors to explore what Daytona Beach has to offer past the shoreline.  Tourists are encouraged to join locals as they Seize the Daytona.
