MPA November member Meeting Presents Corky Kessler on Equity Crowd Funding models and Sec 181

NOVI, Mich. - Aug. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Producers are already aware that finding investors and securing funding for film projects is elusive. And under a new scenario, the “Jump Start Act of 2012” soliciting for certain investment opportunities is allowed.
Now that the Securities and Exchange Commission has lifted an 80-year old ban on how capital investments — including those for movies – may be achieved, interesting opportunities may present themselves,  explains attorney Hal “Corky” Kessler, one of the industry’s experts on film investments.  Title II of the JOBS Act allows those seeking money to advertise investment opportunities on TV or via Facebook or Twitter -- wherever, including at crowdfunding sites.

 

Mr. Kessler has extensive entertainment law, corporate and worldwide entertainment industry experience and regularly speaks on the business and legal aspects of feature film development and tax incentives in connection with the entertainment industry, and authored a reference book covering such federal and state tax incentives.
