GREENSBORO, N.C. - Aug. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- There is nothing like the diamond business to inspire tales of mystery and suspense...legends abound about long lost mines and forgotten treasure. Rarely do these stories have any more merit than the tales of El Dorado, the lost city of gold. However, one miner has made a pretty serious claim that he has the knowledge to back it up. This miner claims knowledge of lost Dutchman mine.

The miner, who for security reasons has asked to remain anonymous, tells a compelling story that involves diligent searches, personal tragedy, whispered stories and more than just a little plain old dumb luck. The legend of the mine goes back almost two hundred years, when new settlers in the region where he claims the mine is, found evidence of a settlement that seemed fairly advanced but quickly abandoned. Stories soon started to circulate that a great treasury of not only the legendary gold but loose diamonds have been found in the caves. Excitement over their new found wealth led to conflict among the members, and greed soon drove people to do terrible things, resulting in the slaughter of nearly every member of the original community.

These stories persisted as the region became more developed, until just over one hundred years ago a miner who had already made his fortune in the California gold rush (and is a distant relative to the anonymous miner) decided once and for all if the rumors were true. Setting out on his own, he quickly seemed to disappear, and was actually thought to be dead until he emerged back home several years later. Claiming to have found the mine but offering no clues, he lived a quiet life for several more decades, his wild tale all but forgotten, until an inheritance claim a few years ago. Going through his new-found possessions and finding maps, journals and a few loose diamonds is what has led to this moment, where this miner claims knowledge of lost Dutchman mine.
