U.S. Reading Team Foundation releases review of "invisible gap" in American education.

Headstart alone can't repair a major factor in educational inequity. Our focus in public education needs reinvention.

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Aug. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- The education-focused U.S. Reading Team Foundation has published an eye-opening report – American Education: A Strategy for 21st Century Reinvention.

"At a time when we are all concerned with the costs and benefits of American education at every level, especially the costs and benefits of college," explained U.S. Reading Team president Dr. Hank Schwarz, "it becomes all the more important to understand the very serious developmental gap that explains why so many of our youth struggle to handle college-level studies in the first place. And, so often drop out of the classroom before they even graduate from high school.

"If we can help our children with better early cognitive development before they enter school we know that years later it can be critical to their success in college, and in our future as a competitive nation in the new age of global economics.

"Yet our U.S. Dept. of Education has never acknowledged this issue or taken any steps to fix it. That has to end.

"We've got to start talking about this – and doing something about it – now"
