The 2014 Chevy Silverado Scores Five Stars in NHSTA Safety Tests

Marking a first for pickup trucks, the 2014 Chevy Silverado (http://www.coxchevy.com/models/2014-chevrolet-silverado-1500/), along with its GM counterpart, the 2014 Sierra, has scored a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA), the highest possible score. A strong body and complete system of airbags helps to protect Silverado passengers in the event of a crash, but a full onboard system of active safety features helps drivers to avoid danger in the first place.

Among the advanced safety systems available are forward collision alerts, which notify the driver when they become too close to an object and a crash may be imminent. There’s also lane departure warning, alerting the driver when the Silverado begins to drift out of its intended lane if traveling above 35mpg. In the event of an actual crash, the OnStar system will automatically call emergency services.
