US Xaverian Provincial Elected to CMSM National Board

During its August assembly, The Conference of Major Superiors of Men elected the Very Rev. Carl Chudy, SX, US Provincial of the Xaverian Missionaries, to a three year term as an At-large Member to their national Board.

WAYNE, N.J. - Aug. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- During the elections which were held at its annual assembly in August, The Conference of Major Superiors of Men (CMSM) elected the Very Rev. Carl Chudy, SX, US Provincial of the Xaverian Missionaries, to a three year term as an At-large Member to their national Board. The members chose the Very Rev. James Greenfield, OSFS, as President-Elect of the Conference for a two-year term.

The National Board of the Conference is the governing body of the CMSM, convened at least three times a year and is composed of the national officers, the chairperson of each region, and six members-at-large elected by the assembly.

According to the CMSM, The Board “discerns the signs of the times; establishes priorities; sets long-term and short-term planning goals and evaluates progress in achieving them; directs the Executive Committee; mandates committees and task forces and reviews their reports; takes advocacy positions and oversees the functioning of the Conference.

The Conference of Major Superiors of Men of the United States (CMSM) was founded in 1956 to support and offer resources for U.S. leaders of Catholic men’s religious institutes. CMSM promotes dialogue and collaboration on issues of religious life as well as peace and justice issues with major groups in church and society. CMSM promotes the welfare of the priests, brothers and candidates in the United States.

Eight hundred Xaverian missionaries currently serve in: Bangladesh, Burundi, Brazil, Cameroon, Chad, Colombia, Dem. Republic of Congo, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Mozambique, Philippines, Sierra Leone, Spain, Thailand, Taiwan, the UK and the USA

Mission: Inspired by St. Guido Conforti and St. Francis Xavier, we, Xaverian Missionaries, serve to keep the local Church aware of, engaged with and connected to the missionary mandate of the universal Church, principally by witnessing Jesus to those who have yet to know Him
