Kathy's Angels - Assistance for New Jersey

Aug. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- Kathy’s Angels is a non-profit organization formed in 2011 by the founder, Ericka Richardson, to assist single parent families and families displaced by Hurricane Sandy. As a single parent, Ericka has been faced with many trials and tribulations trying to find assistance within New Jersey. Matters become more difficult after Hurricane Sandy hit and Ericka’s family was deeply affected, when their home caught on fire a couple days after.

The single-mother, who sought out to help others, was now in need of a helping hand. Tragedy did not stop Ericka and her family from helping others in need as well.  They drew inspiration from their late Aunt Kathy, a great support system for their family and decided to mimic her spirit through an organization. The struggle of events sparked the creation of Kathy’s Angels.

The Kathy’s Angels organization utilizes a community involvement project called, Cans for Kids. The organization picks up collections of cans from homes or businesses and then submits the cans for a return of actual funds. The money is then put towards turning the Kathy’s Angel’s initiatives into action. By collecting the cans, Kathy’s Angels is not only helping the community recycle, but they are raising money to assist the families that need additional support and aide.

Ericka knows first hand that certain events cannot be prevented, but she has strong beliefs that every family should have the chance to equal opportunities.  Ericka stated, “The core vales of the organization are to just help families/kids make a change in there life that will impact them to only see success.” This is the motivation that Ericka uses to build the foundation of Kathy’s Angels. Recently, Kathy's Angels has appointed business consultant, Keisha Griffiths, as the Vice President of it's organization to assist with marketing and offer business programs as the organization grows.

Kathy’s Angels looks to assist families in need by providing assistance via fundraising, clothing/food drives, extra-curricular activities for children, and community events.  At this time, the organization is offered to families located in Middlesex & Monmouth Counties, NJ. Through community involvement and support, Ericka and Keisha hope to expand the organization state wide in the future.
