Follow on Google News | ![]() Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt Enthralls Students at MICAOn 1st September 2013, Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad hosted a a concert by Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and tabla artist Mr. Prithviraj Mishra.
By: Mudra Institute of Communications He began by saying our music, language and culture are our identity and its up to the youth to take it forward and in an effort to relate to the young audience, before every piece that he played, Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt explained the relationship between a raaga and aalaap. In his words, a raag is a person and aalaap is its introduction. Keeping in mind the age group of the audience, Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt introduced MICA to raags with more energy. His performance began with raag yaman – which is about spirituality and romanticism.The crowd was kept mesmerized all through the performance and a loud standing ovation followed. Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt performed at MICA as a part of collaboration between Studio7 (the Music Committee at MICA) and SPICMACAY. The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY), is a voluntary youth movement which promotes Indian classical music, Indian classical dance, and other aspects of Indian Culture .The ‘Heritage Club’ is a unique model of cooperation between educational institutions and SPICMACAY Chapters. The concert marks the establishment of the ‘MICA Heritage Club’, which is a joint collaboration between MICA and SPICMACAY, initiated by Studio7, the Music committee at MICA.
