 Galleria International Celebrates 20 Years as Reinvented Historic Downtown West Palm Beach LandmarkThe Galleria Building was purchased in 1993 by its parent company, Octagon Group of Companies and was completely refurbished inside and out. The owners have maintained its architectural integrity and status as a downtown icon. It is a National Register of Historic Places landmark. It was in 1937 that the famous Palm Beach architect, John Volk, designed the Galleria Building that became the jewel of downtown, Hatch's Department Store. This was bought out by the Burdines chain in the early 1940s and has housed several other businesses through the years, including Pioneer Bank.
