Women in Green Forum East Coast to Launch from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Headquarters

The 4th Annual Women In Green Forum conference series expands to the East Coast to highlight the nexus of sustainability and innovation in the environmental industry.

WASHINGTON - Sept. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- The 4th Annual Women In Green Forum conference series expands to the East Coast with its inaugural event scheduled for September 25th, 2013 at the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) headquarters in Washington, D.C. The USGBC has been a trident supporter of the West Coast Forum and a natural fit as the Venue Host of the inaugural event on the East Coast.

"USGBC, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, has always and continues to recognize women leaders and the contributions they have made to the growing green building industry. As fellow pioneers in the green movement, USGBC is happy to join the Women in Green Forum in hosting their first east coast conference, taking place at our LEED Platinum office," said Kimberly Lewis, SVP Volunteer Alliances, Conferences & Events, USGBC. "We look forward to celebrating the journey of women in this movement and acknowledging their amazing achievements throughout the forum."

The Women In Green Forum has emerged as the premier professional conference series focused on highlighting and promoting women’s leadership across the environmental arena.  Each year, the Forum creates a venue for sustainability professionals to develop the skills necessary for professional success and engage in networking opportunities that allow attendees to support each other in their career endeavors.

Every year, the Forum attracts an international audience of environmental leaders, corporate executives, academic researchers, technology developers, and clean tech financiers focused on highlighting women’s impact on the environmental industry.  In its fourth year, the Forum Community has grown to include a number of high-level executives and representatives from leading companies such as Microsoft, Ford, Wal-Mart, Yahoo!, and many more. The Forum also highlights participation from local regulatory agencies such as the South Coast Air Quality Management District and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The 2013 Women In Green Forum’s theme, “Nexus of Sustainability and Innovation”, sets the stage to create a venue for sustainability professionals to develop the skills necessary for professional success, to promote women’s leadership across the environmental industry, and to provide insightful approaches and innovative ideas to solving environmental challenges. The Forum agenda will flow through a series of spotlight presentations, panel sessions, and skills building workshops, providing attendees with the most up-to-date information and innovations in the environmental arena.

The program for the East Coast event will highlight individuals driving policies that spur innovation and create leaders within organizations and among societies.  The event will conclude with a presentation of a research study presented by Occidental College focused on the “Status of Women in the Green Economy.”
