The effectiveness of tobacco control and smoking cessation will no longer be measured using four week quit targets. It will be assessed through the Public Health Outcomes Framework by reduction in overall smoking prevalence. The time is therefore right to explore the best mix of services to be commissioning across health and local government in order to deliver the required reductions in prevalence. This will involve thinking in new ways and working in partnership, across local authority departments and with the local health and care system. The changes to the health and public health systems, and the development of local Health and Wellbeing Boards, makes this the perfect time to be exploring these issues. At this important new event you will hear from organisations and teams looking at delivering tobacco control and stop smoking services in new ways. You’ll learn about models that can be used for evaluation and explore a range of different services such as harm reduction and prevention in young people. You will also explore how to reach out and deliver cessation services to vulnerable, hard-to-reach groups. Finally, the conference will enable those providing smoking cessation services to learn how to adapt to the developing new environment in tobacco control and smoking services.
