LAS VEGAS - Sept. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- This live breakfast symposium will take place at the AOA OMED 2013 Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada. The following topics based on the educational needs of osteopathic physicians will be addressed: 1) fundamental similarities and differences in pharmacologic profiles (pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacogenetics) of oral antiplatelet drugs, 2) clopidogrel resistance and need for alternative antithrombotic strategies for managing acute coronary syndromes (ACS), 3) clinical trial evidence of efficacy and safety with traditional and newer oral antiplatelet therapies, 4) guideline recommendations on dual oral antiplatelet therapy (DAPT), and 5) best practice in secondary prevention.

The symposium format will consist of evidence-based presentations, interactive case presentation with utilization of an audience response system (ARS), panel discussion, and question-and-answer session.
