Brighton Publishing signs Netta Pfeifer for “Sleeping with Lions: A Spiritual Awakening”

For Netta Pfeifer, being raised by her mentally ill mother would leave a painful trail of emotional and psychological scars, as well as a host of unanswered questions. Among them, one particular question would become the driving force behind her lifelong quest: What is love?

Twenty years later, Ms. Pfeifer would be inspired by the true story of Joy and George Adamson and their pet lioness, Elsa. Portrayed in the film, Born Free, their story of letting go of a loved one and returning Elsa to the Kenyan grasslands, created a strong emotional response in Ms. Pfeifer.

This was exactly the type of love she had been seeking.

After years of corresponding with Joy Adamson, the time had come for Ms. Pfeifer to pack her bags and leave her Hollywood job as Executive Secretary for a talent agency, for the adventure of a lifetime—a trip to Africa where she would work as Ms. Adamson’s assistant for six months.

In the end, the Adamson’s and their big cats would serve as a bridge for what would ultimately become Ms. Pfeifer’s true destination—India. There, in the rarified air of the Himalayan foothills, her quest for unconditional love and what it means to be truly free would be fulfilled in a face-to-face encounter with her own spiritual Guru.
