Travis Walton of “Fire in the Sky” and Other UFO Experts to Appear in Marfa, Texas on Oct. 18

MARFA, Texas - Oct. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- Travis Walton, perhaps the world’s best-known UFO abductee, will hold a “meet and greet” session and sign copies of his book Fire in the Sky at a special event on Friday, October 18, 2013, in Marfa, Texas, beginning at 1 p.m. at the outdoor pavilion just north of the Marfa Book Company, 105 S. Highland Ave. Walton’s book tells the story of what happened to him in 1975, when he was allegedly abducted by extraterrestrials and kept aboard a UFO for five days. Paramount’s successful motion picture Fire in the Sky was based on Walton’s book.

Also appearing with Walton at the event will be authors Lloyd Pye, Noe Torres, Ruben Uriarte, Dr. Francisco Morales, Stephen Andrasko, and other representatives of the Border Zone UFO Festival, which takes place Oct. 17-19 in Presidio and includes events in Marfa. During their visit to Marfa on Oct. 18, Walton and Pye will also take part in an in-studio interview for Marfa Public Radio.

Walton, who will deliver the keynote UFO lecture in Presidio on Oct. 19, lived through what is generally regarded as the world's best-documented alien abduction event. On Nov. 5, 1975, in plain sight of six other men, Mr. Walton was blasted by a beam of blue-green light that emanated from a large UFO that hovered directly overhead. He then disappeared for five days.

A lie detector test of Walton's companions established that they had indeed seen a UFO prior to Walton's disappearance. Suspecting foul play, police conducted a massive manhunt in the woods where Walton vanished but failed to locate his body. Five days later, Mr. Walton suddenly re-appeared, telling an amazing tale of having been taken aboard a UFO, where he saw extraterrestrial beings.

The Marfa meet and greet event, which is free and open to the public, also features internationally-known author and lecturer Lloyd Pye, whose book The Starchild Skull tells the story of a mysterious skull found in the 1930s near Copper Canyon in Chihuahua state. The skull appears to be that of a non-human, and its features somewhat resemble those of a "grey" alien. DNA testing has suggested that the skull is not entirely human. Pye has also written a book in which he postulates that extraterrestrials visited the Earth during life's infancy and actually "intervened" in our development.

Also scheduled to appear at the Marfa event are Noe Torres and Ruben Uriarte, authors of Mexico’s Roswell, the first book to reveal the story of a reported mid-air collision between a small plane and a UFO about 50 miles northwest of Presidio on August 25, 1974. Torres and Uriarte have written a follow-up book about the case, The Coyame Incident: UFO Crash Near Presidio, Texas, which will be officially debuted on October 18 as part of the Border Zone Festival.

The authors have spent the last six years, since the publication of their first book, investigating the incident further and have found new witnesses and new information that seems to prove a UFO really did fall in the Mexican desert near Presidio. Copies of their new book will be available for the first time ever at the Marfa book signing.

Also scheduled to appear are Dr. Francisco Morales, whose recent book Coyame: A History of the American Settler includes a chapter about UFOs, and Stephen Andrasko, an expert on the world-famous Pascagoula UFO Incident of 1973.

In addition to the meet and greet, the Border Zone UFO Festival includes another event to be held in the Marfa area. On Thursday, Oct. 17, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., the Midland Paranormal Research Group (MPRG) will conduct a paranormal investigation at the Marfa Lights Viewing area, just east of town. Using high tech gear such as infrared cameras and other electronic gear, the researchers will attempt to find traces of the unknown or unexplained at the site. They will also educate the public about the methods they use when investigating paranormal occurrences. The event is free and open to the public, as is the entire Border Zone UFO Festival.
