Within the United States, the FCC has deemed certain frequency ranges as open for common use. Internationally, the open frequency range can differ from the US, and Sapling’s new frequency range helps to ensure thorough wireless signal coverage, regardless of which country it is installed in.

Sapling’s standard Wireless Clock System operates on the 915-928 MHz frequency, which is an open frequency in the United States and does not require the purchase of a FCC license, saving money throughout the life of the system.  The new optional frequency range operates on the 2.4 GHz frequency band and does not require extra government licensing internationally. While the 2.4 GHz frequency is sometimes thought of as a Wi-Fi frequency band, the system does not require any type of Wi-Fi system infrastructure, it operates over radio frequency. Sapling’s frequency hopping technology allows each clock to frequency hop the transmission to all of the surrounding secondary clocks, enabling it to receive the correct time, even if there is interference on any of the frequencies.
