TORONTO - Oct. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Sherway Gardens’ (Hwy 427 & the QEW) current Gallery in the Garden exhibit entitled City Rhythms features digital art by Toronto artist Tasira S. Barishev. The exhibit is on display until November 9 in the corridor at door 3. For more information call 416-621-1070 or visit www.sherwaygardens.ca.

Toronto artist Tasira S. Barishev came to Canada in 1993 from Moscow where she was raised and educated.  After graduating from the Moscow Architectural Academy and a brief career as an architect, Tasira became an illustrator and painter, at first specializing in botanical illustrations that won numerous awards.

She has participated in exhibitions both in Europe and Canada.  In 1992 she was awarded Second Prize at the international Contest in Lausanne, Switzerland for a stunning gouache on paper titled “Exodus”.   Her works have been exhibited at the Hummingbird Center for Performing Art and the McMichael Gallery and are held in private collections in Russia, Germany, Switzerland and Canada.

Tasira is intrigued by our wonderful city; she really loves Toronto and her images show her passion.  The city’s dynamic rhythm and very special ambience are presented in City Rhythms through twelve digital images.

“My idea process, thematic conception and style of expression evolve and breathe inspiration into each other. It is a reflective approach – inspiration taken from life and nature, processed and refracted through an artistic medium,” states Tasira. “By placing natural objects in unnatural settings, I want to provoke a thought process in the viewer. I want to challenge complex social concepts and relationships through whimsical and engaging works that explore the consequences, impact and complexities of life.”

The digital process enables Tasira to capture the moment, the event and the surroundings that she finds compelling. With an eye for line and perspective and a passion for beauty, Tasira’s images are well composed, engaging and captivating, offering both visual and conceptual content.
