Firefighter Charities and Sports Grill host benefit for "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer"

MIAMI - Oct. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- The Dade County Association of Firefighter Charities together with Sports Grill is hosting a fundraiser to benefit  “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.” The high energy rock band “Fire Brigade” (http://www.firebrigaderocks.com) will entertain the crowd with live music.

Firefighter Charities will sell pink t-shirts at their information booth that night, and Sports Grill will donate 10 percent of the evening’s proceeds to the charity. Another goal of Firefighter Charities is to raise breast cancer awareness and improve the rate of early detection and treatment.

Firefighters are affected by cancer at a higher rate then the national average due to exposure to toxic smoke inhalation.  The national average is 1 in 5 (21%) whereas firefighters in Miami-Dade County are at 1 in 3 (36%).

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting nearly 300 communities to finish the fight. Every breast cancer walk and event is an incredible and inspiring opportunity to honor those who have battled breast cancer, raise awareness about what we can do to reduce our breast cancer risk, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease with research, information and services, and access to mammograms for women who need them.
