Tiny Candidate creates Mobile Applications for Minneapolis City Council Candidate Jacob Frey

MINNEAPOLIS - Oct. 24, 2013 - PRLog -- After the 2012 Presidential elections, the smartphone has been a key way to reach new voters.  The Jacob Frey Campaign understands that to engage all of their constituents they needed to use technology.  Many campaigns are faced with the desire to create applications and web pages, but don’t have the budget or resources to have a fully customized app built for them.  Tiny Candidate uses proprietary software to release almost-custom apps for campaigns of any size.  The applications run on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.  They provide information to supporters about the candidate, and also let them participate in the campaign.  Users can send messages of support, follow social media, and donate to the campaign.  Volunteering is as easy as clicking a button in the application.

The application gives the Frey Campaign access to supporters that they can’t get through a web page.  The campaign sends notifications to supporters that encourage action and remind them of upcoming events.  This closes the loop with voters in a way that a web page cannot.  With Minneapolis City Council elections coming up on November 5th, encouraging voters to the polls is critical.

“We are so pleased to work with such a young and high-energy campaign,” said Camilo Pineda, Accounts Director for Tiny Candidate.  “They understand that the voters they are trying to reach are using mobile.”  Tiny Candidate has had inquires from around the world about the technology. “We launched our first app with an Australian campaign this past summer.” Camilo explained that working with different countries has been a great experience because the core mission of the app remains the same, but international campaigns have distinct needs.  For example, a Venezuelan campaign needed the ability to report potential voter fraud from within the app.  “Our technology is about connecting and mobilizing voters, regardless of party and nationality.”

Campaigns are looking for new ways to reach new voters.  Many voters no longer use land lines, and instead use their smartphones for connecting and sharing.  More then 30% of US homes use their smartphones exclusively.  There are over 400 million iOS and Android devices in the world.  Tiny Candidate gives campaigns an edge by giving them access to all of those users.  Tiny Candidate is a product of Tiny Mission, a Minneapolis Minnesota based development company.
