Miller YMCA Flag Football League Begins Dec. 7, Signups Underway

NEWBURY PARK, Calif. - Oct. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Newbury Park, Calif.--The Miller Family YMCA's Flag Football League begins its fourth season on December 7. Sign-ups are now underway. No games will be held December 21 and December 28.

         The eight-game season includes a final "Super Bowl.” Games and practices will be held at Del Prado Playfields in Dos Vientos. Practices are on Mondays beginning at 5:00 p.m. and games are on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The league is divided into three divisions: kindergarten and first grade, second and third grades and fourth and fifth grades.

         Teams will be formed by players’ ability level and experience. "Kids learn football basics, sportsmanship and teamwork," says Julie McConville, youth development director at the Miller Y. "The league is semi-competitive but is especially designed for younger players new to the sport."

         The Y is also looking for coaches.

         Through November 20, the registration per player for full YMCA members is $100 ($160 for non-YMCA program members) and includes a uniform (jersey and flags).
