XYIENCE Launches “Ronda Rousey Vegas Getaway” Contest

LAS VEGAS - Nov. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- XYIENCE Xenergy, the official energy drink of the UFC®, launches a nationwide contest Ronda Rousey Vegas Getaway on November 1. To enter the contest that runs through December 16, fans must complete an entry form on the contest website www.XYIENCE.com/Ronda and input the Julian date code found on the bottom of a can of Xenergy. The grand prizewinner selected at random will win autographed Armbar Nation apparel, airfare, hotel, and VIP tickets for two to UFC 168: Weidman vs. Silva 2 that is December 28 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where Rousey faces Miesha Tate as the co-main event. This will be the second time that Rousey (7-0-0) will defend her title in the UFC.

As a special bonus, the winner and a guest will also have the chance to meet the UFC women’s bantamweight champion during open workouts, along with her teammates Marina Shafir, Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke.

Six weekly winners selected at random will receive items autographed by Rousey and her teammates including Armbar Nation apparel, photos and limited edition Xenergy Cherry Lime that features Rousey’s image. An Olympic bronze medalist in judo, Rousey made history in November 2012 when the UFC announced that the former Strikeforce bantamweight champion would headline UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche on February 23, 2013 in Anaheim, Calif.  She became the first woman to defend her title in the UFC, and since then the California native has shot even further to stardom.

Transcending the sport of MMA, the 26-year-old is currently featured in the hit reality television series The Ultimate Fighter 18 on FOX Sports 1. She and Tate, her longtime rival and UFC 168 opponent serve as coaches for opposing teams. Rousey also has a role in The Expendables 3, a Sylvester Stallone film and was the subject of a FOX Sports 1 documentary, Breaking Ground.  She has been featured on the cover of ESPN The Magazine’s 2012 Body Issue, Sports Illustrated, Vogue, Esquire and The New York Times Magazine, among others. Although she is often recognized for her stunning looks and outspoken nature, she is most notable for her athletic accolades, which include a string of historic firsts in sports.

At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Rousey took home a bronze medal for Team USA, becoming the first American to medal in women’s judo since it became an Olympic sport in 1992. In 2006, she won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships, making her the first U.S. athlete to win two Junior World medals. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, 17-year-old Rousey was the youngest contestant to compete in judo.

Rousey was named Female Fighter of the Year at the World MMA Awards in early 2012. According to leading industry publications and the Unified Women’s MMA Ranking, which is determined monthly by a panel of MMA journalists and is acknowledged as the only official women’s ranking in the sport, she is the No. 1 pound-for-pound female MMA fighter in the world.
