The Jersey Express are Ready for a New Season

NEWARK, N.J. - Nov. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Newark, NJ – November 4, 2013- Jersey Express ABA Basketball gets their last taste of preseason competition this Saturday, November 9 as they take on Westchester that will be held at Weequahic High School at 3 p.m.

The 15-man roster that will train to compete in games was released. Almin Hodzic (Budd Lake, NJ) who will play again for the Express. The 6-foot-11 center led the team with 36 point and 13 rebounds in a preseason loss to the New York JAMM in double overtime. Another player who will return this season, Charles Smith (Newark, NJ) scored 19 points, with 9 rebounds and 5 blocks.  Jason Smith (Paterson, NJ) and Ed Torres (Camden, NJ) will also be returning to play for the Jersey Express.  Corey Chandler (Newark, NJ) who previously played for Rutgers University and William Paterson University will be a part of the team this season, helped by recording 20 points. Donald Hennie (Hackensack, NJ) had 20 points and 6 assists and will be joining the Express. Other players that will play for the team this season includes Travis Conyers (Jersey City, NJ), Terry Hill (Newark, NJ) , Robert Whyte (Montvale, NJ), William Goines (Patterson, NJ) , Matthew Cavalieri (Parsippany, NJ) , Joshua Ethridge (Philadelphia, PA) , and Devon Morris (Brooklyn, NY) .

The team looks pretty good in the past two preseason games shooting 41.5% from the field and 82% from the line in the game against the New York JAMM. The Express are averaging 103 points per game in the preseason.

The regular season will get underway the following Saturday, November 16 when the Jersey Express welcomes the North Shore Tides of Boston to Shabazz High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
