Changing Our World Through The Application Of Science

SAKUMONO, Ghana - Nov. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- The African continent is a vibrant and a promising one full of many natural resources; talk of gold, diamond, copper and oil; cocoa, coffee etc. Yet in the mist of all these natural resources the continent is faced with high levels of poverty.

It is evident that the presence of natural resources alone cannot change the continent – something else is needed to bring change to our continent and that Is SCIENCE.

Science is defined as the observation of the natural environment which may include experimentation to establish the pattern of relationship among living and non living things.

Let no one be confused that there are no scientists in Africa, because the continent is blessed with so many of them. The big question is why students are given scientific education to be knowledgeable and not “problem solvers” or intelligent.

Whatever the situation may seem now, the African continent has to change and the only hope for this change is the application of science.

Why must we use building materials that do not suit our weather to build and then burden ourselves to look for extra money to fix air conditioners because the rooms are too hot – we lack understanding of our environment.

A new generation of Africa is rising and it is a generation of “problem solvers” this generation understands science for what it is, through practical teaching and learning of science. No African child should be left out of this opportunity.
