The Geological Society announces the launch of Shale UK 2014The Geological Society has announced the launch of Shale UK 2014, a geoscientific conference being held from 4-5 March 2014 at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in Kensington, London.
By: The Geological Society Shale UK will bring together the leading experts in relevant areas of geology, from the UK, US and across the globe, welcoming over 300 decision makers, potential investors, executives from the hydrocarbon and energy supply chain, and other stakeholders with an interest in shale gas. In a recent statement, the Science Secretary of The Geological Society, Professor Al Fraser, commented, “the Society is working to deliver this conference in order to further its aim of communicating high quality geological research, together with the practical knowledge and experience of geoscientists working across academia, industry and government, on matters of public interest. We neither advocate nor oppose shale gas extraction, instead, through this summit, we wish to promote the understanding of relevant scientific evidence to a wide range of decision-makers and other stakeholders, to inform discussion and decision-making about shale gas exploration and production in the UK.” Independent conference director Thor Holt also commented, “we are delighted to be working with The Geological Society in order to deliver an event which we believe will be of far greater value to its target audience than standard commercial shale gas conferences. It will be focused on presenting the relevant geoscientific understanding and evidence on which future policy and investment decisions will depend.” For more information on Shale UK 2014, please visit http://www.shaleuk.com.
