In the incumbent sweep, voters seemed to recognize Williams’ considerable involvement and experience in district, city, and Lee county government issues for the last 10 years and also voiced their sentiment against new taxes that were passed earlier in the year by the current City Council. “I am honored by this strong vote of trust and confidence by the citizens of Cape Coral—and eager to get to work with the other newly-elected Council Members, Jim Burch (District 1) and Richard Leon (District 4), as well as our new Mayor, Marni Sawicki,” said Williams. “We all spoke during the campaign about improving the collaboration and professionalism on the dais and I’m confident we will be able to work together amicably to move Cape Coral forward again.” The three new Council Members and Mayor will be sworn in and seated on November 18, 2013 in City Council Chambers located at 1015 Cultural Park Blvd., Cape Coral, FL at 4:30 p.m. Williams has been an involved civic leader since moving to Cape Coral in 2004 and has helped lead crucial changes in planning, zoning and water management. He served his country for 22 years in the U.S. Navy and continued his civilian career in biomedical engineering. Now retired from those two careers, he is ready to put his vast knowledge and experience to work FULL-TIME for the citizens and businesses of Cape Coral.
