| Ice writers keep writing for miles and milesThe Detectamet Cryo pen writes for up to 5 miles in hot or cold, dusty, wet and greasy conditions. Ideal for food production areas, its metal/X-ray detectability lessens risks of contaminated food.
Temperature controlled work areas are critical in many parts of the meat processing and food processing industries. Workers can be supplied with protective clothing to work comfortably in -15°C to -20°C (5°F to -4°F) temperatures. An ordinary pen however would just freeze to a stop in such extreme cold working conditions. Detectamet’s Cryo Pens have been designed to continue working at these low temperatures. The ink will keep flowing even in dusty, greasy and wet areas and can flow vertically. From cold to hot the refill works in all extremes up to impossibly hot working temperatures of 200°C (392°F) its design principles were proven in space. “These retractable pens have the added bonus” said Detectamet’s CEO Sean Smith “of having a detectable plastic housing so they can be used in the food processing and handling areas without compromising contamination barriers.” They are both metal detectable and X-ray visible, and can be bought in a choice of eight different casing colours and using one of two ink colours. The cartridge can be specified for a number of Detectamet’s pen housings. The standard housing has been tested and approved as compliant with EU and FDA requirements for materials in contact with food, and under the EWIMA criteria it has been tested to have a writing duration of 4.9 miles (8000metres) End
