Follow on Google News | ![]() Elizabeth Mestnik Acting Studio Called One of the Best in Los Angeles by CBSThe Studio has taught students who have become celebrated actors on stage, in movies, and on television. The CBS report noted that what it called a challenging and inspiring environment focused on long-term learning for acting students who were serious about sharpening their craft and understanding the mental conditioning needed for fine performances. CBS called attention to EMASLA's commitment to helping students build a sound foundation in the craft. With that goal in mind, the Studio's students learn everything from script analysis to vocal exercises. Although it is mainly known for it’s Meisner Technique Program, the studio also garners high praise for it’s Beginners Technique Series, as well as it’s Professional Level Scene Study Program. EMASLA started as a 2-year Meisner Training program. The Meisner Technique is a building block technique, which means each exercise builds on the exercises taught before. For that reason it is necessary to take the class in chronological order, so EMASLA students start each September finishing that year program in June. Interviews for acceptance start in March and continue until the spots are filled. “There is quite a demand for this work, ” says Elizabeth, “and there are always more people who want to take the class than we have room for, but keeping classes small is important to our philosophy, so although I wish we could bring in more students, our excellence is because we keep the classes small enough for real individualized attention.” EMSALA's two-year Meisner Intensive program develops listening skills, accessing emotions, working instinctually and ultimately combining all of this create a rich and personal interpretation of a script and a role. The CBS news segment praised the Studio for being one of the best classes in Los Angeles, taking a technique originally developed for the stage and using it to create fine actors in a variety of mediums. These performers are a perfect fit not only for the theater but also for filmed and television because the students truly master their instruments, can access their imaginations and that makes their work personal and emotionally rich.
