PRLog -- Artist John Ross Palmer proudly attended Writers in the School’s 30
th Annual
Celebration of Story Gala at the Junior League on Thursday, November 14
th with one goal in mind—raising more funds for his 2013 Charity of the Year. Palmer chose to donate one of his most prized pieces,
Purple Escapism, to tie in with the purple-themed, melodic musings of honoree Anita Kruse. Palmer accomplished his lofty goal—with his painting achieving an auction bid of $5,000—with every dollar going to Writers in the Schools. With the five additional monetary donations his business made to the outstanding non-profit during 2013, it brought his total financial contribution to WITS this year to $9,296.
Palmer’
s tremendous support of Writers in the Schools was not limited to dollars. In addition, the artist was a Judge for the Meta-Four competition that sent outstanding spoken word competitors to the national competition in Chicago. At this same event, he created the unique, one-of-a-kind ceramic “trophies”
for the Meta-Four winners. Palmer designed the cover of the annual WITS anthology as well as a fabulous set of WITS poetry-themed postcards. His Historic Heights Art Gallery hosted a Spring Kick-Off where Palmer unveiled a WITS-themed art series and a Fall Fundraiser where the charity chose to use his dynamic space as a Kick-Off and Patron Party for their recent gala. Furthermore, Palmer’s business promoted WITS tirelessly with prominent placement on their high-traffic website and consistent social networking sharing.
Since 2011, Palmer has focused his philanthropic work to a chosen Charity of the Year. Past honorees were Outreach United (2011) and Heifer International (2012). “This way, my contributions to an incredible organization are not simplified to a basic donation that sits on a silent auction table. I can truly back an organization whole-heartedly…
and that means a stronger relationship, greater exposure and much more money for the non-profit.”
Palmer’
s partner Ryan Lindsay echo’s this sentiment, “Seeing John’s name on the Donor List at the WITS Gala at the same tier as huge corporations like H-E-B and Kroger is truly remarkable for a small business owner—especially a working artist. It has been a dream relationship with Writers in the Schools—their team and outreach are simply the best and I’m so proud of John’s support of them.” If you have any questions about Artist John Ross Palmer or John Palmer Art’s historic of future support of a Charity of the Year, please contact owner Ryan Lindsay at 713-861-6726 or
