Nov. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- Wiley announces Rebuilding Trust in Banks: The Role of Leadership and Governance, a new addition to their finance books offering. The book is a unique study of leadership and governance in banking, featuring leadership lessons of four banks’ Chief Executive Officer: Stan O’Neal, Jimmy Cayne, Richard S. Fuld and Fred Goodwin.

Rebuilding Trust in Banks looks at the critical roles of boards in governance and clarifies why banks failed in 2008 and beyond.

According to the Malaysia-based author John Zinkin, too many of the highly profitable products that banks have developed over the past twenty years have not been socially and economically useful.

"They do not serve the real economy, but are traders among banks that have led to the straying of banks’ original and primary purpose to serve as a conduit between those who have money and those who need it,” he explained.

Zinkin argues that leadership alone is not enough. “Only by setting the right ‘tone at the top’ and the right ‘tone in the middle’, and by relearning that they succeed when their customers succeed, will trust be restored,” he said.

The book offers a detailed examination of how successful, transformational leaders can end up destroying the organizations they had taken to market leadership. The lessons and recommended steps for rebuilding trust in banks will provide guidance to creating a sustainable long-term business in financial services.

Topics include:
- Napoleon’s leadership lessons to the failed transformational leadership
- Ethics in finance and setting the tone at the top
- Issues of organizational integrity
- Discussion and comparison between theory and reality of bank governance
- Explains why good governance matters and how to achieve it; and much more.
