WASHINGTON - Nov. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has named Douglas Brinkley, FAIA, a 2013 LEED Fellow. He is among 51 of the world's most distinguished green building professionals to be selected this year through a rigorous peer nomination and portfolio review process. Brinkley was recognized as a member of the 2013 class of LEED Fellows November 21, 2013 at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo (http://www.greenbuildexpo.org/Home.aspx) in Philadelphia.

The LEED Fellow Program is the green building industry’s most prestigious professional designation.

Brinkley has spent more than 20 years focusing on green design and advocating its cause as an innovator and a green business leader. He co-founded North Carolina's first USGBC Chapter and has been instrumental in developing energy conservation codes and ground breaking energy and water conservation legislation on the state and national level.

Brinkley's portfolio of work includes five LEED Platinum certified projects, the first LEED-certified building in the UNC System, and the first LEED-certified multi-building community college campus in the country. In 2010, Mr. Brinkley was elevated to Fellowship by the American Institute of Architects’ College of Fellows.

“The 2013 class of LEED Fellows is an extraordinary group of thought leaders, innovators and green building professionals dedicated to a healthy, sustainable future. Their commitment to LEED is transforming our built environment,” said Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO & Founding Chair of the USGBC. “We are honored to present these highly accomplished individuals with the LEED Fellow designation.”
