Follow on Google News | Al Young Honored As The 2013 IBSC Community Banker Of The Year“Al has been a dedicated and invaluable member of the Independent Bankers of South Carolina’s leadership team for years. His efforts have made a tremendous impact not only on The Commercial Bank and IBSC but to community banks throughout the state,” said Cameron Yost, current Executive Director of IBSC. Mr. Young began his banking career with First Citizens Bank in Dillon, SC as a management trainee and was later promoted to Vice President. Later he served as President of Latta Bank and Trust prior to moving to the upstate to serve a Senior Vice President for Capital Bank and Trust. He assumed his current role of President and CEO at The Commercial Bank on April 1, 1996. In addition to his esteemed banking career, Mr. Young has always been an active member in both business and local community service. He was recently appointed by Governor Nicki Haley to serve on the Tri County Technical College Board of Directors. He has also previously served as a member and past president of the Honea Path Civitans, Jennie Irwin Library, Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce and Independent Banks of South Carolina. Outside of banking, Mr. Young serves as an elder, Sunday school teacher and member of Belton Presbyterian Church. In his free time, Mr. Young is an avid pilot, his other hobbies include camping, fishing, hunting and gardening.
