Chrysler Group LLC Donates Chrysler 300 to Cerritos College Automotive Technology Program

 
NORWALK, Calif. - Dec. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Chrysler Group LLC donated a 2012 Chrysler 300 Sedan to the Cerritos College Automotive Technology program. The vehicle is WiTech equipped to communicate and diagnose with the vehicle wireless interface. With the new technology, communication and diagnosis is quicker and more accurate and has less components.

The vehicle will be part of Cerritos College’s Chrysler Automotive Program (CAP) training. Students will be able to work on the vehicle during the hands-on portion of the classes.

Cerritos College Automotive Technology Program offers certificates, degrees and special programs in automotive repair, collision repair, alternative fuels, smog training, advanced transportation technology and automotive management.

The CAP is a two-year AA degree and certificate automotive program designed to upgrade the technical competency and professionalism of the dealership technician. The program introduces the student to the very basic to the most complex automotive diagnosis and repair of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Fiat vehicles.

“We are very excited to have received this very generous donation from Chrysler Group LLC. The Chrysler 300 vehicle is the latest of recent additions to our Chrysler fleet of 22 vehicles. The 300 is equipped with 3.6-liter V6 engine and puts out 292 horsepower at 6,350 rpm, 260 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm,” said Cerritos College Automotive Instructor, Frank Vega. Our students are very excited to learn hands-on, on a vehicles that they will actually see at their dealerships.

Every semester, the students will spend 9 weeks of the 18 week semester in the classroom and the lab. The other 9 weeks they will be a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Fiat Dealership. What the students learn in the classroom will be applied to real life diagnosis and repairs at the dealership.  Students get the opportunity to learn on the latest technology that Chrysler is producing. The Chrysler Group provides the vehicles, books and curriculum as well as on-line access to training usually only reserved for journeyman technicians.
